Batten Seam Roof

A batten is a strip of wood (or other solid material) that provides a fixed point
for metal roof panels.  In a batten seam roof, the battens run parallel to the
slope of the roofs while metal panels are formed and fastened around the wood
battens.  Batten Seam Roofs are a more classic type of roof, and a precursor to
the standing seam.
